Oil Cooler pics
#16
More updates on the oil temp readings, having run in 95 degree heat at Road Atlanta today. I saw a max of about 125C. What was interesting to me is how much the temp would drop on a single cool-down lap. By the time I got back to the paddock I would be below 100C. The oil temp recovered downward much more quickly that the water does. I don't know the water temps since all I have is the factory idiot guage, but seeing these readings I'm not concerned about the water temps.
To answer the other question the guage is an eletric Stewart-Warner gauge, and I put the sensor in the un-used plug opposite the oil drain plug in the pan. Drilled and tapped the plug as has been discusesed here in the past
Cheers
