Default Rear speaker fix during weight loss exercise

One of the rear speaker's wiring has come loose. It will cut in and out, which is really annoying. I was going to rip out the sound deadning under the carpet to lose some weight and figured while the rollbar was out I would address this. What is the consensus on removing the rear window? Seems like it can be done either way, but to remove it sounds like a lot.more.trouble than it's worth.

Is there any sound deadning I can remove behind that paneling? I also hear there is some stuff inside the fender wells?

Theres no sound deadening behind the pannel as far as i know, and no need to remove the rear window. Just be careful.

Removing the rear window is actually really easy. Install is pretty easy as well if you lube the window up with some dish soap and use the string method to pull it back in. Takes maybe 5min to pop out and about the same time to get back in (if you manage to get it on the first try).

hmmm...not clear on what this would have to do with the speaker. You do not need to remove the window to get at the speaker.

I honestly found it to be much easier to remove the window to get the rear interior panel off than lifting the seal up and pulling (and tearing) the vinyl of the panel.

I agree, to do this right you should take the window out

That being said, I'll say it again. Lube the window seal up with dish soap prior to installation.

It can be installed without the soap, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier. I got my first window in without soap, but ended up tearing the other window seal trying to install it without the soap lube (which I didn't learn of until afterwards).

sorry for the bump, but I have to add that my method sucked after all

Even though I was able to push the interior panel back up under the lip, I just noticed (months later) that it didn't stay.

I'll be removing the rear window tomorrow. Pics to follow...
