I would first like to say that although I showed up late it was great having the time to talk and gawk. The supercharger is unbelievable, would have liked to see it in action. Sorry I had to head home. I also could not believe how many Porsche's were out yesterday.

I hope I wasn't the one that F'ed everyone up. I thought everyone knew I had to head home. I saw a silver 993TT parked on the side of the road just after you guys had exited I think he might have done some damage but it wasn't me he was passing there was also a red 911 and a green 928 that was ahead of him. I moved over to the left lane to head home I think I saw someone follow me but couldn't tell. I do remember Leslie saying to keep to the right once on 80 that is why I moved over to the left before taking off. If I screwed anyone up I apologize. I wasn't on the gas hard but these cooler days adds a little more punch at normal throttle.

Wish i could have made the run it looked like a fun time and great roads.

maybe next time

Thanks

Anthony

What a beautiful car that Turbo is! Good to see you again and hope you take the ride with us next time!

I think it was the silver 993TT and green 928 (guy with the lesiure suit) that Leslie was refering to..he was a character!

I am still thinking about how much fun I had.....the ride was fantastic! Taking my son to soccer in the S2 today (a ritual we've had since last season)...maybe I should take a 70mile detour and hit seven lakes drive!

Hey Mike, it was great meeting you. I won't blow your story, promise. I cannot wait to see the video of that guy's reaction.

It was our pleasure to lead everyone through our favorite family Sunday drive but let's also give Joe Berk some BIG thanks for starting the idea and setting up the restaurant location, etc. in the first place! Thanks Joe!!

Thanks, Anthony! Actually, it sounds like Carlos's (reno808) girlfriend (too many names yesterday, sorry!) got quite a bit of the trip on video, so you'll almost be able to feel like you came on the drive with us after all! And may I say your car was gorgeous too. Leslie loves the color as much as your 928's amazon green. Though I do wish I'd gotten a chance to see your 928 up close too.

I don't think it was you that messed us up, I knew your car wasn't coming along, and in fact I didn't even see you. What I thought I saw was a couple of Porsches that blew past me on the left and then Robert in his oak green 928 started going on my right. It all happened so fast I couldn't tell what was going on. As we figured out later on (because we had Robert's number), was that Robert got confused, he thought some red car on my left, as part of our group, was challenging him so he went for it. I hesitated for a minute and then went after him to try to get him to stop. I was catching up to him, but he had such a good head start on me, and then he went past the exit we absolutely needed to take, that we decided we had to write him off. We didn't want to do it but the roads he was headed for would have made it impossible to keep ANY of the group together, so we chose the lesser of two evils, at high speeds and split seconds!

I know what you mean! If we didn't have someone in front of us going up that long straight hill just past the visitor's building, I would have led you on a seriously hair raising ride that feels like you're going to fly straight into the sky past where you can see, even though you really don't because it levels off just at the top.

We did that the first time we scouted this trip two weeks ago, and it had been a long while since I'd been up there, so I sort of didn't remember what was coming. Doing it for the first time in many years, in a car that can go and is going triple digits+ straight uphill and still gaining speed (whoops), while handling like it's going fifty, when we reached the top still gaining speed we almost had a heart attack as we came over the edge! But some killjoy killed that part for us. Maybe next time!

Thanks again, Joe for setting it up. Great to meet you all, and let's do it again real soon!

Kevin

Since I'm better at food than road-courses and you and Leslie seem to have 'aced' the choice of road courses I think we made a good team...hats off to you!

Can't wait for the next one! Now if I can convince my wife to come along I think she'd really have fun! Can't I just tell her we're going to circle the short-hills mall?

Abolutely, Joe. No one will tell your wife anything, and then we'll just ambush her with a hell ride through the mountains! She'll still speak to you after that, wont she?

Hey, let's do it again really soon, even if it's just an impromptu outing of a smaller group of the local locals. Damn, I can't believe it's the middle of October before I can finally depend on my car this year. Winter's a'comin' real soon, it feels like, and I really want to get a chance to use my car a few more times before it has to get parked for the winter for snow. Too much unfinished aluminum to be taking it out in salt.

I'm planning on hopefully doing that 10/28 run from Sloatsburg up to New Paltz. How about you? Do you know about that one?

did not know about that but it has potential! New Paltz is a nice hippe town! Grandparents used to live there....they were parents of hippes so I guess that's how they fit in!

Anyway there are lots of good restaurants there (here I go gravitating to food again!)

Oh...and I am not sure she'd speak to me again if I told her short hills and wound up at curved-hills!

Joe, here's a link to the thread about it: Link

It's a 155 miler through NY state parks with several stops along the way, it sounds like, and lunch somewhere along the line (not sure if it's in the middle or the end), at Mountain Brahaus in New Paltz. Sounds like a blast. Arwin and Bob in NY, who planned it, say it will be a "challenging" drive, which is right up Kevin's alley. Come on out!

Sorry I couldn't make it you meet all of you guys. Reno808 (Carlos) said he had a great time and got some nice video footage too. I am waiting to see what he filmed! Upload it already Carlos.

Aaagh. Spent forever downloading it, and it says it can't play the file! Guess I'll just watch it in 30 second clips here. I discovered that if I put it on pause and walk away for a while it buffers a whole bunch and then I get to see about 30 seconds before it pauses. Better than 3 seconds at a time!

Dude, your girlfriend did a great job from what I've seen so far. It may take me the rest of the evening to watch the rest. I'm up to about the 6 minute mark. It's kickin! Thank you so much, also, for your offer to send me a copy of it. You're the best! I'll send you my address later.

No man. It didn't recognize the video format. Or something. Sort of computer challenged in this house. Sorry.

Even tried downloading a couple of alleged mp4 file converters, but they didn't work either. I'm just watching it very slowly. Up to 10:19 now!
