brake noise

I have PF97 brakes all around. Since they are race pads I know that a certain amount of brake squeal is normal. And actually I liked the squeal cause it reminded me that I have race pads. The problem is the squeal has gotten A LOT worse. It is almost unbearable. In a residential neighborhood it reverberates throughout the land. What would cause the pads to squeal more? Is there anything I can do? They also squal on the track. I was under the impression that when they heated up they would stop making noise. They do not stop. Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem, except I don't have racing pads. The only real thing I can tell you is it could be Oxidation, when brake pads oxidize they make a lot of noise. It could be that your racing pads were some kind of softer compound to give more braking power and have worn down very quickly and what you are hearing is the wear indicators?
My suggestion, inspect the pads for wear, if they are fine; disassemble the caliper and use a spray on brake parts cleaner all over the rotor and caliper. If that dosen't fix it, it should at-least help.

I use PFC97's on my race car and my Boxster when I track it. They are gonna squeal, especially under street usage. I really like the stopping power on the Boxs so I messed around with a couple of different kinds of backing plate shims and with every lubricant known to no good result, they are gonna squeal

The cause of the squeal is either a surface irregularity between the pad and rotor, or, a vibration between the caliper and the pad mounting surface. Best thing to do, is get some of the orange disk brake quiet from NAPA, and put it only on the surfaces between where the pad touches the caliper(on both pads, inside and out.). Most of your squeeks will go away I promise.

I get some groaning from the pads on my 968. the brakes were just done by the PO with Pagid pads, I do not know which compound but IIRC the tabs that stick out are red and green. I was thinking it was just the compound, does anyone know if the pads can be identified by these painted tabs?
Thanks,
-Joel.
