Default Stock shifter ****, short shifter

I put in a speed 6 short shifter in the car but haven't found a handle that I really like. I would like to use the stock shifter again because nothing really feels right, like it did, but is there anyway to get the short shifter to work with the stock shifter know??? I know the short shifter uses a round post compared the rectangle that the stock one has. Anyone do this or have an idea how to do it? I will have to buy a new shift/boot as well. My old one was old and falling apart.

i don't have an answer but i have a question:
why is a short shifter better than stock?

i hope someone else will answer your question but i think there is no easy way to adapt a porsche **** to a round shift fitting.

Short shifter is supposed to save you a fraction of a second in your shift time so you can get back on the power faster on the track.

Actually my linkage was getting really sloppy from the bearing wearing out so I upgraded at the same time. It makes the handle sit lower in the car as well as short throws. I like the feel of it and changing gears isn't any hard to get into gear or anything like that.

I've got a short shifter (don't know the brand) in my car and it worked with the stock ****. I replaced that with a Momo **** though and I really like it, for what that's worth

For you guys who switched, for the better, can you post up a picture of it? If I can find one that fits the short shifter and is close to stock, I might try that.

I saw someone that put a 2001 Boxster 5-speed shift **** in the 944 and it looked at home in that 85.5+ cars. I'd love to do that mod!

I posted this pic before, but here it is again.
Performance products short shifter on tranny, cut down factory shift lever, adapter from Performance products to make the flat lever round, then a B&M short leather ****. It looks kinda funny, but it has a great feel to it.

Sorry I don't have a picture. It's a simple black leather 'anotomical' style **** (i.e. it isn't symmetric). It was no more than $50 about 2 - 3 years ago - I'm sure a search will turn up photos of what Momo sells currently.
