FOR SALE :: 944 Manual steering rack conversion
Pulled from an '83 that I parted. I drove the car some 700 miles before parting and noticed no slop in the steering. Comes with proper steering shaft and tie rods for conversion.
I have been saving for the spec car project that will never happen. $250 plus shipping. PM me if interested.

I had the same thing...it's not the steering rack. I tightened the front wheel bearings & it made it much better, but the 'cure' was new tires.

really, any slop in the front end could cause that. I had a tie rod inner end go sloppy on me and gave me similar problem. The balancing of the front wheels is really important as well - the 944 is very sensitive to front tire balance and shows up as bad harmonics @ about 70 MPH.

I will concur.... When I bought my 951 it would shudder from the right front like it was about to tear itself apart when approaching 70mph.
Took that wheel off and took it in to my tire guy. Not only had the weights gone missing, but it had a nail in it too. They plugged the hole, rebalanced, and the car drives fine now. Well, it would if I put the motor back together
