Default Odd Cargo Thread

This thread is being created so we can show our fellow members how resourceful the 944 can really be.

-This is my 17' kayak on my 14' 944. Tow hooks came in handy.

That is AWESOME! What are those things between the metal and the kayak? Did the wind affect you much when you were driving it home?

Those are foam blocks w/ a concave top/ made to fit on factory roof racks. The wind wasn't the issue. My suspension is to stiff, that kayak was all over the place. I had to stop twice on a 20 mile trip to re-tighten it.

Next time I put all of my drums into my car, I should take a photo.

Didn't you have some photos on Pelican showing that?

4 beach chairs, plastic box full of beach toys, a small scarecrow (wtf?), a watermelon, few bags, and a hot passenger.

I’ve slept in the back of mine w/ my luggage and an oil pan. I fit in there like Tetris “L”.

BTW I’m 6’2”

When I saw "Odd Cargo"... I thought you picked up my ex-wife.

Hey, I did see a cool setup for a trailer hitch. Mostly set up for the 911 series but the guy said he's adapted them to 944s also.

I once got 3 people plus 3 large backpacks. We had been hiking for 3 days. All fit fine for a short trip.

2 packs in the hatch. One back behind the drivers seat.

I put 4 people and luggage for a week in my 924S and drove 500 mi across Texas to the coast - in the summer.... with no A/C. We took the sunroof off and drove above the legal limit....

I wish I could find the one with a 12' christmas tree hanging out the hatch...

What makes that pic so good is the number from a track event is still on the glass...

half-stack guitar amp- that's a 80+lb 200w head, and an equally weighty 4x12" speaker cabinet, two gear bags, two guitars.
I've also gotten a bike in there- with the hatch shut, without any disassembly.

Here is a picture of a guy who bought a 944 engine off me.. He came with a continental to pick it up.. and wanted me to put it in the front passenger seat. I convinced him that his best bet was the trunk.. and he road away with the nose pointing up to the sky.
