Default Interested in bidding on euro 944 bumper from UK/eBay - Test Fit Question with Pics..

Is there a better way to have it shipped than for $140 pounds (sterling)? It weighs seventy pounds (lbs.). Thanks.

Michael

What bumper are you looking at, my U.S bumper doesn't weigh 70 lbs and my euro bumper is much lighter.

Sounds fishy. I just bought my 2nd one including lights and trim rings and shipping was just under 100 pounds each time. I don't remember the weight though. Does the one your bidding on include the mounts?

Woops.. I thought I read front bumper. But the rear euro bumper didn't cast more than 100 p to ship either (to CT).

They are about 50lbs and the cost for UK Global Priority (the most reliable tracked method of shipping) is approx £138.50 (or US$280) for 50lb. You are probably looking at $300 with the added weight for packing. It is not cheap at the moment as the US$ is very week in Europe.

You can get an exact price from the UK Mail website www.royalmail.com

Check a company called ParcelFlight. I had one shipped to me around Janurary of this year for about $90GBP. It was delivered by FedEx. I cannot see total weight being more than 25lbs (with alot of packaging) and that is a stretch. The actual weight of the bumper and the two hard mounts wasnt more than 15lbs when i weighed it. Its possible that 70lbs is the BILLABLE weight due to its size.

Yea no way does that bumper weigh 50 lbs! I'd be surprised if it's half that. Some here must have one that isn't mounted on a car they can weigh...

Guy got back to me and confirmed what many of you said: The bumper weights 10-12 kilos, but the size of the box puts it in stratospheric pricing. Nice guy that he seems to be, he is researching some slower boat methods of shipping. I will keep you posted.

I'll sell you my authentic Porsche Euro bumper from the good ole USA, if you're interested. PM me.
to clarify, it is the euro bumper and a real porsche part. Mounts are about 39 bucks a piece from Sunrise Porsche in Washington? or twice that from Ian at 944online.

I "won" (or simply agreed to pay more than others) a g-red rear bumper from eBay UK. Here is the bottom line: I got the bumper for 25 pounds and the shipping for 80 pounds. That comes to about 220 US.

Overall, not a bad deal. I still have to get the brackets. Anyway, I thought I would share the info for others interested in doing the same.

Did you get the 944 bumper or the 951/S2 bumper? Did it come with the rubber center trim strip? (that's the expensive and hard to source part)

I personally like the looks of the 944 bumper with the smaller rubber strip and no square cut-out for the tow eye. (944 bumper pictured below)
