Thank you. That is exactly the description I was looking for in regards to how I feel driving my pickup after a couple months in the 944.

UPDATE:

And the winners are: Fuel pressure regulator, DME, fuel filter.

Runs like a dream now, and thanks to everyone who took the time to make a diagnosis.
