Timing belt slack.

Oh yea, that's my bad...the balance belt whine is what is different. Although, could a timing belt come very loose after 5000 miles? The car felt a little slow to pick up yesterday while driving around like the valves werent opening at the right time.

I think it is recomended to check the tension after 1k-1.5k miles and then again at 10k I usually check mine when I change the oil.

not that loose, if the valves are opening at the wrong time your belt slipped, and it wont slip 1 tooth so it will sound like BANG!
