Default Getting it running well.

Ok, thanks for the advice guys. I've decided I'm going to do the timing belt myself. A few questions I have though are this:

The car runs now... it idles perfectly fine. However, when I accelerate or blip the throttle in neutral, it's sketchy and jumpy. Should I solve this BEFORE I change the timing belt? Or should I change the timing belt first, as it might be partly a problem with an old stretched belt?

I have new reference sensors, what else could potentially cause this hesitation / jumpy throttle?

Thanks!!!

I hesitation just off idle can be a bunch of things. Spark plugs gapped wrong, dirty fuel injectors, fuel filter, dirty air mass/vane airflow meter, you name it.....

Yeah, sorry... I probably should have given better information:

The following is new:

1 - Spark Plugs
2 - Plug Wires
3 - Distributor Cap
4 - Distributor Rotor
5 - Clean oil
6 - New fuel lines from tank all the way to body lines.
7 - New fuel filter
8 - Fresh 93 octane gas
9 - New Battery
10 - New reference sensors
11 - New Air filter / air intake tube / cleaned and oiled mechanical air meter (doesn't mean it's working though).

I'm pretty sure I gapped the plugs properly when I installed them.

With what I've mentioned now, do you still think it's probably either dirty injectors or something like that?

I will say that after doing all of those things, it's certainly improved. It just feels like there is a "miss" that occures with the rpms (frequent) when I start accelerating. Otherwise, it idles beautifully.

What kind of fuel pressure should I be expecting?

Thanks!!!

If your belts are abnormally old (more than 3+ years), I'd change them before running the engine at all.

I am having the same problem. Also if I'm crusing freeway speed with very little to no throttle and then I give it a little gas it stumbles and hesitates. If I give a bit more then things clear up. It seams to be right at the off/on throttle point. I have an A/F meter and it sycles right at that point. I have checked the following:

1) new cap and roter
2) new plugs
3) new plug wires
4) New coil
5) new injectors that came with SC kit
6) new fuil presure regulator that came with SC kit
4) checked both reference sensors via clarks garage
5) new and checked throttle posisioning sensor.
6) new vacume lines & did a vacume leak check

Let me know if you make any headway, I'm at a loss. Next I am taking reference sensors out and physicly checking them.

All the N/A 944's I have driven have a slight hesitation from idle to on throttle especially if you blip them real fast. I think it sounds cool, like a big V8 drawing up vaccuum through some 1000cfm carbs.... except thats hardly whats under the hood....

Does it have the same problem if you very gradually push the pedal down? These cars use an AFM with a barn door, not a MAF.
