Default NA Turbo kit on ebay

No affiliation with the product but I do know the seller and have seen this mounted in the engine bay. I am curious for your thoughts.

I did not see it run. I had to run. It is a very clean set-up and can be run as is and reliably at 5psi (with larger injectors and no intercooler) in its for sale state. He built the motor in my car and he knows 944's very well.

I think my main concern would be that log style manifold. I can't imagine it's very efficient and erratic exhaust pulses could be a real issue. It doesn't look like it was ever set up for an IC . If the price stays low like it is now it might be worth trying it but the required upgrades to make it run safely could get very costly. Like they say, just buy a complete 951 engine and hardware and do it right.

Looks like the setup off a 931; that seems to be a 924 manifold.

If anyone does this, I would be interested in the results.

Would def be interesting. It would be a starting place. Just have to see how it include an intercooler in there but with that much pipe it would probably cool the intake charge a lot.

The way it was set-up, it leaves ample room in the engine bay for an intercooler. There are a lot of folks on here that seem to know a lot about forced induction (certainly more than me), but at 5 PSI, it is probably not necessary.

Oh yeah. 5 psi def not a big deal to not have an intercooler. Also if you run i think it's ethenol you don't really need an intercooler. I could be mistaken. Looks like with that much piping you could probably do something cool with some of the Thermal Hard Pipes from Lindsey Racing.

Having owned and installed a Callaway Turbo kit on my 944, I can tell you that the kit in that auction is definately not a Callaway kit. The manifold places the turbo in nearly the same location, but it's not the same. And by the way, when I did have the kit, it was considerably faster than the 944TurboS.

I personally think the placement of the turbo is MUCH better than the 951. There are no crazy exhaust routings like the 951. Even the pipes for the intercooler would make more sense if one was used with this setup. There wont be any criss-crossing. Air would simply exit the turbo, enter an intercooler port on the pass. side, then exit and dump into the intake. Much simpler than the 951. (Here omes the bashing)
