I use a 3/4" drive long breaker bar. I like to make sure those little suckers don't come off.

I guess Im the only one that uses a wrench to tighten the filter. Ill tighten by hand up until the point where the gasket makes contact then use one of the cup wrenches to make a full revolution.

I agree, tightin till you scrunch your face but not grinding your teeth! Not tooo tight now......

If I do the handtighten mine leaks. Didn't used to, or maybe that was my old engine that didn't. I tighten it down decently tight with a wrench now , and it doesn't leak.

Hand tighten until it stops & back it off 1/3 of a turn.

I lube it up and do it by hand.... sort of like my love life

I guess it doesn't make a difference if you do it by hand or use a wrench, because it ends up being equally tight using this method - one turn after the gasket makes contact.
