did you read the first two replies from drunks?
then the guy from eastern europe asking me why I painted the wheels red? (I didn't paint the car and thats the same as insulting me and saying I'm really stupid enough to paint the wheels red, so if someone insults me I might get offended. It's also a waste of bandwidth and everyone's precious time to say "dude you painted your wheels red, whoa dude! let's have another beer!"
really sad.

so basicaly the cars like that are just mines to average joes, they buy it and then realise they should have bought the more expensive one, then they get another, better car, and again sell the mine to another average joe..

you need to re-read posts you are replying too, you say i couldnt be further from the truth about fixing the paint... i'll let it go. part your car, make your money, and move on

There's a lot of 150 dollar ratty seats for sale because none of them are being bought.
So you're not goign to tell us where it was painted huh? You say people here are wasting your time.. this thread is a waste of time in the first place.

If you really want to know what an "average joe" (who doesn't know about how large a dent a 944 can put in your wallet) will pay for a project car, don't ask here... Rennlist isn't full of "average joes" -
Just put it up on eBay and see what happens. Ebay is one place where the "average joes" look for cars.
You can also get a pretty good feel for what it's worth by looking at the closed 944 auctions (but only ones that actually sold - asking prices mean nothing)
And... no one disputes that (sadly) a 944 is worth more as parts (not taking into consideration the amount of time, hassle, storage space, etc) than as a whole car - this probably is true of any unmodified car, even one in pristine running and cosmetic condition.

I would suppose it was painted by the body shop he advertises for in his .sig
As for the parting prices, yes there are a lot of parts listed on ebay at unrealistic starting prices.
Sometimes someone desperate or uneducated just buys the part they need at 2x the price they could have gotten it for. Usually however the part goes unsold. If there was a free/cheap listing day recently you will see a lot of marginal parts listed for high prices. As Art suggests you want to look at what stuff actually sold for. Also remember the price and satisfaction depends on the condition of the part, if your parts are kinda crappy you will either get very little for them or you might end up in a back-and-forth dispute process. Parts that are cracked, scratched, have tabs broken off, water damage, all that has to be taken into consideration. Just because it's on a car now does not make it a good part. I learned the hard way how many parts on a ratty car turned out to be nearly worthless.

I sold an NA that had been in decent running shape for $1200. It was nicer than your car, but it did have a leaking fuel line at the time of sale that needed to be repaired immediately. I also sold a very nice condition 89 NA (2.7 liter car). for $4000. There's your market data. I'd say $1500 Tops for your car.
