sounds 'racey' not too ricey, actually. Maybe the stock cat would help? That sounds a little more raspy than the XR-1s I've heard.

Is the video sound accurate to how it really sounds? I only ask because often something gets lost in the recording.

Assuming it is, I don't find it too ricey. Yeah, it's got a bit of "brap" up high, but it also sounds like what I hear at Summit Point. Were it me, I'd be all about it on a track car, but for my current 944... eh... probably wouldn't like it.

i've got the LR 3" exhaust, straight piped with the Borla XR-1 muffler and magnaflow tip and it sounds amazing on my turbo at least. i couldn't of asked for a better sound comming from it, its quiet when you want it to be and its loud when you want it to be.

I'll get video of it...

Yes BB, there is a little loss on the camera. The driving vids are a little better than the still shot, but it's a pretty good representation there.

Oh, and the idle does sound like a john deer in that vid.. it doesnt erally sound like that though, I guess that close to the tailpipe it might. Theres no cat and a straight through muffler so the idle will never be amazing sounding anyway.

It's not really a ricey sound.. just kind of loud, and it's my daily driver. If you drive grandma style you can sneak up on people fine, but as soon as you get on it at all it's loud as hell.

It's actually quieter insidde then my stock exhaust with gutted cat on the highway, at a steady speed not accelerating. It is a good quality muffler for that...

It's not. He just came over here and I heard it. It sounds decent at idle, not at all like a diesel.

At constant speed it's actually quieter than my stock exhaust. Any serious change in engine speed makes it sound like a really big Honda engine with a bad exhaust.

I'm embarrassed to drive this thing right now. Way too loud.

Getting a resonator put in on thursday where the cat was I guess..

Anyone have the XR-1 on their NA? How do you like it?

I have heard that it is a good set-up for hp and 944 spec racing. We really don't care about sound quality too much however. I'd bet 50% or more of the 944 spec cars sound similar to that. Not all use XR-1's however. I just use the stock muffer. What is loud and not so fun is straight pipe with no muffler at all. I used to run one of those, but liked the stock muffer better since I can hear the engine more than just exhaust.

Wow. I won't lie, I don't like the sound.

It makes me 10x happier that my S2 came with a SS B&B on it. I've heard many people say it's the best sounding exhaust you can buy for these cars. I'm going 2.5" SS pipe where my cat is (it'll be able to bolt in, so I can swap the cat, back in simply by undoing 6 bolts) and I really hope it doesn't alter the sound too bad.

Kid at my school had an '87 951 with no muffler. It sounded like crap, and hit 112db! Leave this kind of stupidity to honduhs.

If you are using a 2.5 inch test pipe, I have a brand new 304 Stainless steel resonator that will muffle the sound and change the pulse frequency so that it doesnt sound so much like a tractor. The XR-1 is a straight through muffler, you're going to need something else if you want to quiet it down enough for everyday driving.

The piping is all 2.25inch stock piping.. Figuring the test pipe is the same diameter. i just told the exhaust guy to put a pipe in place of the gutted cat that was there, so I'm assuming he kept it the same size for ease of adapting, although it my be 2.5. The muffler is 2.5 in/out, but the pipe leading up to it is 2.25.

Joel, if you say ricer honda and my car in the same sentence again, I will kill you. I know where you live.

It may sound like a race car/it may sound pretty good, but its a bit loud for my taste. I guess I'm not the average 21 year old. Never would've thought I'd be saying "It's too loud"

Will a resonator probably quiet it down a decent amount? I'm dropping the car off tomorrow afternoon for one to be put in.
