Wow, I've never seen a laughing car

The 80s are cool, and I don't care what people say, the 80s saw some of the best human creations. The 944, Star Trek TNG, Nintendo, etc. But the 70s were better - Star Wars, Atari, the color brown, Pink Floyd, and of course the 924 that started it all for us. And the world's best car, the Mercedes turbodiesel, was introduced.

One song comes to my mind which always makes me think of my 951.

Judas Priest - Turbo Lover

Works both ways for me. 80's music makes me think of my 944, and my 944 makes me think of 80's music. Got a disc full of 80's MP3's in there that the wife is gettting tired of hearing.

We have one of those JACKFM stations here. Like an iPod on the radio- random stuff, you never know what's next. For the first time in probably 15 years, I heard David & David "Boomtown".

The only reference to a 944 in any song.

I keep a copy of Van Halen's best in the 944. When I'm driving down the highway in the 944 with the sunroof off, listening to Van Halen, I imagine my 17-year-old self thinking that things turned out pretty well for my 40-year-old self. (My 40yo self agrees, but for reasons that go beyond the 944.) Cheers,

Eric

Took a 5 hour road trip on Sunday. The new stereo has a USB port (installation writeup coming soon). Two 2GB memory sticks. One is loaded with 70's + 80's stuff, but not the pop stuff. The short list includes several Pink Floyd disks, Rush, (old) Genesis, Moody Blues, ELO, Gary Numan.

While I can't say for sure that the 944 makes me think of 80s music, I do get razzed at work from guys coming into my cubicle singing 'Miss Christina drives a nine fo fo..."

I'm old and unfamiliar with that one, but I thought of an 80s song that mentions a 944.

"Miss Christina drives a 9-4-4. Satisfaction oozes from her pores..."

Boomtown - David & David

edit: RBed944 made the same reference while I was typing, so I will include a link to the video. I think that's a 944 that zips by as he sings that line...

so im sitting at a light with "Big Log" by Robert Plant playing and the sunroof out.... i look next to me and there are four tattooed dudes, early twenties, all staring at me. I felt uncomfortable until the light turned green and i showed them how easy the 295's turn over from a stop.

I've never heard of Citizen Cope either, just ran couple of searches on some lyrics site.

So that one was semi-offtopic.

haha... this is too funny. I associate my car with the 80's for sure. I was joking around with my brother and told him that I was going to turn my 944 into a total 80's machine... with a rubik's cube hanging from the mirror and maybe some space invaders decals on the hood or a big pacman one on the back hatch. lol

good dig finding the video. I don't think I ever saw that. I always pictured that guy as being older and bald.
