Thankfully the 944 is not a DD so I can leave it on the lift for days. The clutch fork retaining bolt broke so I drilled it out. I screwed an 8 mm bolt into the fork bolt and hammered it but it won't budge. Is this bolt often that difficult or maybe I didn't drill enough off the retaining bolt?

A picture would help, but it sounds like you are trying to push the clutch fork pivot the wrong way. You install the bolt and pull it out not push it in. I hope i am refering to your actual problem

Thanks. I am in fact pulling. I fitted a box wrench over the bolt head and use that to pound on.

i think one method people use is putting a socket over the 8mm stud, and tightening a nut and washer against the socket which would be trapped between the washer and clutch housing, and the pin will give first.

I used a slide hammer since engine was on a stand :/

I tightened the bolt tight and just kept spinning the pin and pulling came out easily. Try using a set of vice grips

Use the socket method as apierce918 mentioned. It worked out great for me, Once you get the pin to move use a vicegrip and pull it out. You can also wiggle the clutch fork through the slave cylinder hole(makes it a little easier sometimes)

Great ideas folks. I will give them a try. All at once.
