I saw that ad and was looking at the price like, "ooh goodie!" then looked at the mileage and was like "no sh**!"

Mine should be pretty accurate. It was a 1 owner with records and dealer serviced.

My 86 turbo has 197K on the odo and I'm just now rebuilding (it needs it!).

My 87 NA has 157K verified (fully updated save original bottom end) and will head out for yet another track day first thing tomorrow morning.

Hahaha, sure. And I'm calling that I have 1 million...and one. But seriously. Didn't Wade have an n/a at almost 300k with the original clutch at one point?

Wade still has that car. I saw it in his garage with his turbo S. That car is in better condition than most N/as that have 1/3rd of the mileage.

It still has its original clutch.

Wow. That's crazy. I'm glad he still has it. At one point he was asking if he should go ahead and replace the clutch so it wouldn't die on him somewhere. I said he should drive it until it dies, see how far it goes.

I pulled the engine from my '84 when it hit 300k, and put a new one in as a part of restoring it to give to my daughter. I did a leakdown test on the original engine *after* I pulled it and was sorry I did... 3-5% across the board. Regular oil changes will do that. lol I should have just replaced the pan gasket and been done with it.

High mileage 944's don't scare me if they come with records and evidence of regular maintenance.

Regards,

Criekey! My block has like 50K on it, and the last test I did was 145,125,145,150

You are talking about a compression test, I did a leakdown. Compression was 175-180psi across all four cylinders on a cold engine. This was a NA, not a turbo, btw.

In 2001 I saw an 83 944 from Southern California. It was a one owner car and had 500k on it or so at the time. He entered in our local concour and did well. Original engine and tranny never opened.
