...wow you only shift twice in each lap...3-4 and 4-3.

How was the track? Seems kinda boring -- a lot of sweepers.

Thanks for posting the video! Post more! I enjoy living vicariously through the more exciting lives of others.

The track is anything but boring - the surface is a little rough, but plenty of camber in some of the turns, decreasing radius to keep you on your toes, etc... I was only on the brakes a couple of times and making the two shifts per lap. In the fourth session out, I figgured out that 2nd gear comming out of 13 made a big difference - I was wondering how Bob (in the white 968) was pulling away from me on the front straight.

Yep, that's called having a stock turbo. I would have way too much lag on the front straight for that. I'm surprised you didn't put it into 4th going into 1.

John - that was sweet! The cowbell soundtrack was great.

Your lines and gear changes are almost identical to mine. I use third only in the two left handers. After that it's all 4th. Fun track. The kink is a nice test of what you and your car have got. I have to think I've got bigger ***** than the car has. Not sure if it were a turbo if I'd be flat footed all the way from the middle of the carousel to the breaking point in 12(?).

Ah Sweet. Thanks John. Any way I can get ahold of the high res version of that? I don't have any track footy of my car. That was probably the most fun I had in any session that day. There were three or four of us for awhile running together all near the same pace. It was great trying to catchup/get away.

The kink was great. After the track dried out I was finally willing to put the pedal on the floor and man was that a rush.

I take T1-3 in 4th, downshift into 3rd for Oak Tree and the Carousel, upshift into 4th on the back straight, downshift into 3rd for T12 and then down into 2nd for T13.

Bill -The full resolution avi for that entire 30 minute session is over 5 GB. I can burn it to a dvd and send it to you if you e-mail me a mailing address. I need to send one to Dan for the fest video as well, so I'll just do that at the same time.

I spent quite a few laps trying to figure out T1. There were a few laps where I was behind Mike (in your car) and I imagine you were in the car, but which is the fastest way thru T1? Is it to stay out wide and apex very late, or trail brake in, apex early, and keep the car on the inside curb. It felt as though trailing in was quickest and that's what I stuck with in sessions 4 and 5, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Stay out wide and apex late. It's way to fast of a corner to trail brake in so if you are able to trail brake you're giving up speed. You should be at mid/maintenance throttle throughout the turn. It's scary as hell when you do it right.

i did fourth a couple times on the front but getting into turn one it started getting hairy and i had to brake more before hand- third gear hit 100mph before one and i could tap the brakes and cruise right through. T13 was tricky for me, i need to re-adjust my shifter cuz downshifting to 2nd at speed is tricky and it was hanging me up to long- longer than if i just ran through in third- but the lag was a nightmare coming out. It hit it a couple times perfect and cruised right through in third but couldnt replicate it every time.

I might want to get a copy of that video too. Is the whole session on video or just what you showed here?

Yeah, I was in the blue 968. I have pretty much 24 minutes of that session. I pulled off just a bit before the end.

I played with the video a bit (added a basic CODEC) and got the full size (780x480 resolution) video down to about 350 MB, and it doesn't degrade the quality too much. I'll upload it to our ftp server at work tomorrow and let people know where they can download it.
