Default should I pack the axle stub with grease?

I just pulled the bad axle off. on the tranny side the axle stub is void of any grease but the wheel stub has some rather old grease in it... See picks..

Should I pack extra grease into the axle cup or is the grease packed in the CV joints enough...

Going to put it back on tonight so if you know the answer let me in on it!!!

Things that make the job oooohhhh so easy...
1: garage
2: Low clearance High lift jack

Then the bad condition of the boots.. not too rough but missing clamps and torn at the clamp ends....

10-4 roger that....
Actually I thought that would be the case.. going to clean out the old grease in the cup and put in some moly-synthetic that is good to 385 degrees... should be fine for CV joints...

Thanks JC

Yup you can pretty much never overgrease them...unless it all overflows and gets all over your shirt...*ehem*

MMM 3 hours including the time it took to go and get CV grease and a taco
Lisle triple square tools from pep boys or something.

The desired Jack Pad from Paragon to make jacking without damage easy!

Don't forget to support the axle shaft with a jack stand or risk busting the CV

I used a racheting box end to get the torque required to loosen the bolts.
To ensure I didn't strip any I tapped the tool with a small ball peen hammer
until it was good and seated.
Of course I used a socket and a torque wrench to put them back on just like Clarks told me too!.

The wheel ends seemed to have relatively fresh grease.

The Transmission ends were very dry and smelled slightly burnt.

Big straps on the inside CV and small on the outside... Don't get them backwards or it may rub.
Also after the inside CV bolts are snug tap the tabs all the way around to push them up in against the CV and make them even.

New axle from Paragon... The inner and outer CV are identical so no need to worry about which way to install.

Test drive complete.... NO VIBRATION... NO CLICKY!!! YEAH!!...
Thanks for the advice everyone gave me!!
