Clunk...Clunk...No gears 8-(
I waws driving home from my son's basketball practice tonight and came up to a 4 way stop. I stopped , went to shift into first and heard two distinct clunking sounds and had no gears on the car.
I was able to push it to a safe location and am heading back to it in daylight to check it out.
Is it possible that the linkage simply came loose or did I lose my transmission.
Not an enjoyable end to the evening for me.

Stick wobbly? Check to see if the E-clip came off by pulling the shift surround cover and boot. Next item up for bid is the linkage to the top of the transmission itself.

Does it make any new noises while idling? Does the noise come/go if you depress the clutch pedal? If there are noises, and they go away with holding the clutch, that would point toward a bad tranny. That's what happened to our 944.

I just had the car towed to my home. Inspecting the bottom of the car I see that the left half shaft is not connected to the transmission anymore.
Is it possible that I'll *just* need a half shaft or is this an exploded transmission? As I posted, there where two distinct loud clunks when this occurred.

We did the clutch a little over a year ago. The car has been running great and everything was torqued properly then but...who knows. I've been wanting to replace both rear half shafts anyway so I guess now is the time.
