Default Door Locks Problem

Has anyone ever had the central locking problem where only one side (driver's) locks work. The actuators are all fine I think (I replaced passenger's twice to no avail), there just isn't any power to the passenger's side. Putting a key in the lock works as it should on the driver's side, but not on the passenger's, which leads me to the microswitch in the handle maybe? Everything else works fine (button on the console only works the driver's side, etc.). I'd love some input along with maybe a wiring diagram before I tear the whole car apart. Is wiring in the door prone to failure? How about the central locking mechanism? Can the locking mechanism fail in a way that would just kill one side? All input is welcome here. Also, where do I go for microswitches in the handles as well as the cetral locking mechanism? I can;t find them anywhere. Thanks

the plastic connector from the handle to the lock rod may be broken. Mine is.

Yep, I just found a write up on it from another thread. I guess I will order 1 before tearing the door apart.

I think the key slot on my passenger door is upside down because in order to unlock it I turn the key down. My interior switch doesn't work either. Some times when I look the car with the drivers side, the passenger side lock and then unlocks itself. Needless to say I just removed the fuses and do it manually.

Chris' symptoms seem slightly different than the problem I was having. With just the plastic actuator broken, I could still hear things clicking/moving in the passenger door, it just wouldn't work the lock. Also, when I used the key to open the passenger door, it would sense it and unlock the driver's door as well.

I think you are on the right track looking for a microswitch or a wiring problem. Good luck!

Seems like it might be an reasonable retrofit. Just get the solenoids and then wire it to an aftermarket alarm system with remote entry.

So, what was causing the lack of current to the door lock?
