Default Attn: M474 optioned 951's

At the present time my budget doesnt allow me to go to a full coilover suspension kit like the Koni or Bilstein Cup series. My researched directed me towards the Paragon Coilover kit which is reasonably priced and within my budget. I wanted to know if anyone has them on 951's with the M474 option?

If so can you provide me some feedback? I would also plan to change my bushings in order to get a more satisfactory ride.

TIA

I have the suspension you are considering. M474 Koni yellows with the Paragon coil over kit and 400lb hypercoil springs. For DE's they are a tremendous upgrade from stock.

What application will you be using your car for?
If AX or DE, it will work fine.
If club racing, you'll probably want something that can go stiffer -- with the Koni Yellows, 400lb springs is about the limit before you need to revalve the shocks.
If daily driving / non-track use, I would suggest going with a lighter spring -- 250 - 300 should work just fine.

Keep in mind that if you plan on lowering your car (why else would you want coil overs?), you need to do something to ensure that your A-arms won't get stressed. There are a few options:
- A longer pin for the ball joint thingy
- Don't lower the car more than what is acceptable for the stock A-arms (most reputable indie Porsche shops will know the lower limit)
- Get aftermarket A-arms like Koklen, Blizzak, or Charlie Arms. (I have Kokeln with the mono-ball joints -- they were very, very well)

Hope this helps,
-Zoltan.

Z-man,

I plan on using it as a daily driver along with some DE/HPDE events per year. My concern was if the kit fit the M474 Koni's as Paragon wasnt certain when I called.

What do you have regaring the rears to balance things out? I heard of reindexing TB however need to do some more research on the topic. I plan on going with the M030 sway bars later this year but for now only have the stock sway-bars. Would this present and issue with stock rears and coilovers in the front?

Please bare in mind I am new to the 951 and gathering as much knowledge as possible. Any information would be appreciated.

Alex:
The rear torsion bar depends on how heavy a spring you get for the front. I've found my 31mm hollow torsion bars (30mm effective) are pretty well matched for 400lb front springs.

Check the Paragon website -- there's a decent write up and figuring out how to balance the front / rear suspensions...
