If it's from a 924(s?) it should be a direct swap. If you've got the economy meter, you want to be sure to get gauges with that. I'd label everything as I take it out if I were you. Blue tape and sharpies are your friend! I've not done it, but if you search around a bit you'll see a few threads about it (I'd try 924 gauges in 944 for search criteria).

If you're talking about installing the black gauges with white lettering I have them in my car and they look great. Not sure about the white faced gauges with black lettering though. The white faced gauges that I have seen on Ebay only work with the 85.5 and later cars.
Kitkit22 you don't happen to be the nice guy who sold me that turbo rear valence the other day do you? Well either way, welcome to the list!
EDIT: Checked Ebay again, wow, they do make those for pre 85.5 cars..
I dunno, might look too ricey though. I'd imagine having newer looking gauges on an early style dashboard might not look as good. Of course, if you do end up getting it we'll all be expecting pictures.

Btw, before everyone starts arguing about whether he should get these gauges or not, it would also be helpful to address the question at hand which was "how do you install gauges, etc"
It is with that regard that you may find this helpful..

That guy happens to be me nh7cy.About the gauges, I'm referring the one's on ebay. 924 gauges on a 944 looks nice but I just want to try something different.I've seen few early 944's that have white color face gauges on it and it looks fine (for me).
And yeah sure nh7cy (Jason right?) I'll post some pics if I ended up getting those white face gauges on ebay.

Believe it or not, after seeing those installed they actually look pretty catchy. That is, with the silver trim though, my car has all black trim so I'm thinking it might not look as good.
