Default Repaint in Original India Red or Change Color, and to What?

My car's paint isn't too bad, but a painter I know offered me a barter that I couldn't refuse. So I didn't.

I was planning on just repainting the factory India Red, but today I started thinking about doing a custom color. Are there any concerns that I should be aware of when changing colors? My first choice for a color is pictured below. Anyone have the info on the color (I just PM'd Duke about it). Anybody have any other color suggestions w/ pics?

Damn, those are two awesome looking cars! If I ever resprayed mine (and it's in fairly good shape, all things considered), I'd respray it a similar color, probably along the lines of xsboost's grey.

I dont think you can go wrong with either color if you did it. They're both beautiful.

Man, that green is amazing.

But that would be a hell of job to barter for if he's going to do it really right.

That green is spectacular. Red is nice, but very common, that green pops.

I wouldn't change the color of the car, unless this guy offered you a really good deal. I'm talking a $5,000 paint job. Changing the color takes value and cheap paint jobs can offen be seen in the door jams, under the hood, under the rear carpet where the old color still is.

I do agree about the fact that not all the red would be gone from the car in the engine bay and under carpet. That's what I'm wrestling with. That green is tempting me though. I don't care about the resale value of the car. I'll be whipping this until I run it into the ground.

I've got the guy doing this for me a ton of work in the last few months. I also hired his daughter. In return for the paint, body work, and wheel refinishing I'll be fixing and applying a decorative concrete system at his sister's house. I could sell that job for around $3-4k. He is paying all material costs, so it boils down to about 2 days of labor for me. Easy.

Not that anyone here gets as excited about concrete as me, but I'll be applying this slate look and texture in random tile.

Nice tiles. We'll need some after pics.

The green is really pretty. At least if you started with a dark color as a base rather than guards red it wouldnt be so bad, but I wouldnt change from red, unless its to a comparable color. Orange? A burnt orange?

How about a candy or metal flake red?

I once saw a really nice metallic silver 944 but when I got close I could see red paint under the sunroof gasket...

I appreciated everyone's input. I think I'm staying with the red. Seems like the 'proper' decision. Plus, I'd have to edit my signature. I'll post before and after pics when it's done. It besta' be done by Saturday so I can run with the other P cars in the PA Covered Bridge Tour.

P's!

That India Red paint sure looks like Guards Red...

I'm just sayin'

I am thinking of repainting my Guards Red 89 944S2 to that Marchismo Red (sp?) -- the darker burgandy paint they did our cars in. Would match my tow vehicle nicely...

But that metallic green '44 is da bomb. Very, very nice!
