Eh, I doubt it. The smaller diameter of the tire means less weight, but also means that the wheel has to turn more to get the same amount of travel as a larger wheel/tire. So the car would technically accelerate faster, but the top speed for all the gears would decrease.

It really depends on what you want to do with the car. I have heard good things about the the BFG gforce sport tire and pretty cheap too.

yes it makes a diffrence.

Mind if I ask how you know there is a difference? (Not trying to start a debate, just wondering)

Remember that since your tires are now smaller, the speedometer will be off to some extent - it will read faster than it would with the larger stock diameter tires.

I have 225/50R15's on my track car and there is definitely a difference in acceleration vs. the taller stock tires. I think there are two reasons. First and foremost you are effectively lowering the gearing of the car with a shorter tire, therefore it will accelerate more quickly. Secondly, there is less unsprung weight with the smaller tire which will also contribute to better acceleration.

Just for giggles I put the 225/50's on my Carrera and drove around, the Carrera felt faster too.

So I could keep my 60s on the front and put like 45s in the rear, go faster but look like a halfway lowrider...

excellent.

Narrower tires enable higher speeds due to less friction but at the expense of grip.

Im not talking about tire width. The overall height of the tire is what changes you acceleration. Vanwyk4257 hit the nail on the head in post #19. It effectively lowers your gearing so its easier to accelerate but you will lose some top speed. At 70mph my speedo reads about 5mph faster than im going.
