Default Clutch job questions...

The Clarks-Garage instructions say to:
"Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder from the clutch housing and hang out of the way."
Do I only unbolt the slave from the housing? Or do I need to remove the hydraulic line and completely remove it?
I'm sure I'll have more questions later on. Just trying to consolidate them to one thread. Check the last page for my latest questions.

Just unbolt it from the bellhousing and hang it out of the way.

You won't have to bleed it if you don't disconnect anything else from it.

Yep, just got it, and I had plenty of slack in the line to move it out of the way. Thanks

My brother's least favorite, but (sometimes) most helpful tool is his brother . Get a helper when doing the hard work. And please, for the love of god thank them and buy them some pizza for their troubles...

I wish I had someone around today to help me. I don't think I can convince my sister to crawl under the car or get remotely greasy

Another quote from Clarks-Garage:
"#24) Remove the clutch release lever retaining bolt from the clutch housing (just above the opening in the clutch housing for the starter).

#25) Thread the long 8 mm thread bolt into the end of the release lever pivot shaft. Remove the release lever pivot shaft by holding the 8 mm bolt with a pair of pliers and tapping the pliers with a hammer or prying with a screwdriver."

So I just unbolt it, and thread it into the hole below it? I wish I could find a write up with pictures, would make the job alot easier for boneheads like myself.

EDIT- Ok, I found a thread with a picture, which helped alot! Everyone just calls it a 8mm bolt, does anyone know the thread pitch on this? I would like to avoid buying 6 different bolts at Ace to find out which on will work.

Woohoo! I got the release lever pivoy shaft out, only took me 2 minutes. I guess I'm lucky having a car that has never been anywhere butCalifornia or Arizona.
Incase anyone else is wondering, the bolt you need is a 8mm thread, by 1.25 pitch. I was able to get it out with a 90mm long bolt with a big fender washer on the end. A couple taps to losen it up, and the rest I slid out by hand

Well, I got rained out yesterday, so I'm back at it today. I am trying to get the bellhousing off right now, but Clarks-Garage says that there are 4 bellhousing bolts. I only see 3, I can see the top left, top right, and bottom right. Was the bottom left one of the starter bolts?
Anyone have any tips for getting at the top left bolt? I took a quick glance through the shop manuals, and I didn't see any torque specs for the bellhousing bolts, or the bolts that attach the torque tube to the bellhousing. Took a 1 foot breaker bar with a 3 foot pipe slipped over it to get those suckers loose.

Ok, I found the 4th bolt, I think. Top middle, but I still cant get the top left one out I've tried jacking the back of the engine up, trying to get it from the engine compartment, and I've tried lowering the rear of the motor to get it from underneath. I can find a way keep the socket from slipping off of it. I'm tempted to just pull the whole motor by this point

LONG extension, u-joint and socket. It's a pain in the butt. I'm just finishing mine up as well.

HAHA! I got it!! DAmned thing took me a couple of hours
The trick is, don't use cheap tools. I couldn't find my Craftsman 19mm socket, and I was borrowing my friends 3/8 drive Husky and breaker bar with all differnt lengths of extensions and a u-joint.
Either that bolt head is slightly smaller than 19mm, or that socket sucks. I found a 1/2 drive 19mm and it just barely fit with no extentions or U-joints, came out with my 3 foot cheater bar on the end of the ratchet.
Now I am trying to wiggle the housing off, and it is bound up somewhere, I think i forgot to remove the speed/ref sensor bracket.
