Default Hot Start Problem

I tried to search but the screen stays white. anyways here is my problem. The car starts fine when cold and runs great no stumbling(Yet) and idles great. However after the coolant gets up to temp after a few mintues and I shut the car off it won't start again, it cracks over just won't fire like the DME reply is bad or pulled out of its socket. Yes I did replace the DME relay and have a extra one in the car and still nothing. I had witchhunter rebuild the injectors last year and did the fuel filter earier this year.

So I am stumbed on what it could be. Any Advise?

You need to get a fuel pressure gauge so you can check/test your fuel pressure at different temperatures.

When I had hot start issues with my 944, it was the fuel pressure regulator. To test it, let your car warm up (really hot!), and observe fuel pressure. Then disconnect the vacuum line to the FPR, and see if the fuel pressure goes up.

I'm having the same problem right now. And I'm in the process of resolving it. I've gotten a lot of different recommendations. Heres a list of what people have said to replace.
*DME Relay
*Water Temp Sensor
*O2 Sensor
*Reference Sensors
*Fuel Pressure Regulator

Brandon- I now have the same problem. Mine started to do this after I pulled the radio however. I drive somewhere, park the car, quick dissconnect the battery. It sits and then I try to start it back up and it will crank and act like it wants to start but won't. I then have somebody hook up cables to my car, and it normally starts after a couple minutes. I think my battery is draining from something but I have the same exact symptoms.

Car runs fine when it does run. Has me stumped. Have you figured yours out yet?

I had this problem on my 86 lux for years. Never found the reason why but it only rarely happened and usually when I made a short trip of a few miles and then restated hot.
Apparently it can be indicative of a failing DME relay ? might be worth substituting a spare for a quick check

So I should get me a DME Fuel Pump Relay?

Sounds like an all to common problem. Hell, they're only 25 bucks off eBay. Might as well give it a shot.

After replacing the DME Relay, Water Temp Sensor and Reference Sensors my hot start problem seems to be gone. Since I replaced them all at the same time its hard to say which one was causing the issue. I also replaced the door "poppers" that trigger the dome light and audible door indicator.

The references sensors can be checked for resistance here, which may help determine if they are the cause. The tach should also jump while cranking, if not you probably have a dead sensor.

Audible Door Indicator? Yea, I don't hear anything when I open my doors. However, I don't feel this is the problem. This is clearly something with a relay or fuel pressure as the battery has plenty good cranking amps and spins the motor fast, just won't start.

I bought a new relay to start with because it's cheap, and a good spare. We'll see what cures my problem.

If your Audible Indicator "Gong" relay is broken the part # is 928 618 102 03. Thats the relay in position G16. Definitely not related to your current problem I just threw that in there since I did replace it at the same time. Its always good to follow up on the trouble spots when you find them. Heres the relay pull up diagram on pelican parts.

If the DME relay doesn't help, you might want to invest in the fuel pressure gauge to help diagnose the problem. I have this one here.
