Default how crucial are the shock snubbers?

On my S2, the shock snubber/stops on the shock shaft are deteriorating. Does it really make a huge difference? If so, are the Konis better than the stock ones? if yes, how much better?

I don't do autocross or driver's ed in it but I do drive it a little spiritedly sometimes and the side skirts scrape. Is this why?

Thank in advance,

Ernie

the idea behind snubbers is to keep the coils from over compressing in case you hit a monster pothole at speed or something. Without the snubbers, the coils could compress too far to return to their normal size.

The chances are slim that you would actually do this, but in the words of Jim Cary "...so what you're sayin' is, there's a chance!"

oops, sorry...was in Jeep mode there.

For regular shocks, the snubbers keep the shock from exploding if it goes beyond it's travel.
