Is my fan and AC running backwards?

So I've been trying to work out some of the many small electrical issues in my car for awhile (horn not working, intermittent dome light, clock not working, etc) and one of the things that I've been wanting to fix is the Fan and AC. Everything works when I turn on, the AC motor runs (AC needs to be charged though) and the Fan runs. Only things is, when I turn on the fan, Air only blows out of the vents located in the passenger and driver's footwell, it doesn't matter which way I set the controls. I checked all of the mechanical connections and everything seems to be linked up and in order so its beyond me what is wrong here. Then, when I turn on my AC and place my hand under the blower below the dash, it blows air out of the center as opposed to sucking air through the center as I am sure it should be doing. Is it possible that the polarity was reversed on these units at some point? I would try switching the wires but I don't want to risk causing an electrical fire (i know for sure the motor will run backwards just fine but I'm not sure how that would affect the rest of the system).
Keep in mind, this is for an '83 944 so I don't have the fancy dash and all of the electronic stuff, just tons of wires and steel cables.

I would try changing the fresh air fan relay. It is the first one.

connnectors can be attached backwards and the motor doesn't care which way it turns.
i changed out cooling fans/shroud and one had the connection backwards and it was pushing air to the front rather than pulling/cooling.

It wouldn't. I just wasn't sure by your explanation whether or not it was blowing backwards or just not blowing properly.

Seems to be blowing backwards. The AC fan under the dash seems to be blowing air instead of sucking it. From what I know about fans of that type (they look like a turbo in the way that they suck air through the center and blow it out through the side). Well imagine air is coming out of the center and sucking it in through the side. Weird stuff..

Exactly my question. Since the motor is running on DC it relies on polarity. The only question I had before switching the connector was if it would somehow affect something else, but I guess not so I guess I'll have working AC tomorrow afternoon.

Bearone sorry if i ignored your previous post, the first few times I read it, it looked like you were saying that the motor will spin the same direction no matter how you wire it.
