Talking Looks like i finally licked my overheating problem!!!

After a complete top end rebuild and decoration, i drove maybe a total of 50 miles before i found i had a overheating problem, down the road was fine, but come to a light, ATM, or traffic, and it shot up to the highest white mark and fans were not kicking on.

I never let it go past that mark for fear over real overheating and warping my freshly rebuilt head (with 4 new valves ) and while checking my thermoswitch via propane torch, they came on fine. the old switch was jb welded in sideways and lacking the gasket.. maybe it was still to blame

well, after bleeding several times, debating on new radiator, me and my dad figured we should try the thermostat first, its the only thing that really controls flow from radiator to engine and my engine was getting hot, but the radiator wasnt getting hot enough to trip the fans.

So i ordered a new thermoswitch and thermostat (and every thermostat seal i could find a week later because just the o-ring doesnt work for me apparantly.

well, the driveway test went well, just before the highest white mark the fans kicked on and dropped it down to about the middle (which is where my old car always was at idle) and it past the road test shortly after.

So now finally i can get some wheeltime in, and i dont have to deal with my trucks 14mpg

Some new cleaned up pics because i know you guys like pics

She has some stone chips, and she has seen some road time, but all the work i have done over the last 6 months has been under the hood, not on the exterior

Looking for $4,000 - $4,500 for her at the end of the summer probably

Looks great, good color choices on the engine bay!

Where do you get those fuels lines?

Very nice.

I'd clean the strut towers with WD-40 and from the battery box to the fuse block.

I bought a 944 a couple months ago in the same color, but didn't really care for the color... UNTIL I SAW YOURS. That is a damn nice looking color when all shinny and not faded out. I've fixed the car and it runs great and was going to do the body work next with a color change. Not anymore. I LOVE the look.
Thanks for posting it up!!!

garnett red looks 10x better in the sun, there is one nasty spot on the roof that is peeling from poor prep when it was reprayed probably 7 years or so ago, i cant remember, but other than that, it can clean up pretty good. the fuch's could use a new paint, but if you go over them with a silicone based cleaner, you can keep them shiney and much better looking then what they normally would be

Sorry to bump this back to the top, but that you might like to see some pictures of her from half a decade ago!

I'm glad you saved her from the guy I sold it to. From what I've heard, at least he passed on all of the records to you. GL

Andrew - Last year, 3 of us hooked up in Toledo and made the trek to the fest. I'm planning to head down Thursday after work-ish, but my timing will be flexible - I'd like to be on the road before 6 if possible (shouldn't be much more that 3 hours to Nelson's)
I'm in Livonia; I could meet you either somewhere off of I-275 or US-23 depending on which route you'd rather take.
