Default A sad day in my little Porsche world

Well, after a long and hard process of thinking and weighing my options I've have come to the sad conclusion that I must part with my 944.

After some minor repairs and some photography I will be posting it up for sale. I figure I will give everyone here the 'heads-up' first and then post it in the Classifieds and on Craigslist.

I will be making a list of everything done to the car in the last year which is A LOT.

Again, just a heads up.

Regretfully,

-John

I might be interested if you have decided to sell.

I'm not sure on a price yet. It needs tires and an inspection right now.

My decission to sell is for my marriage. The wedding is in October and we have unsuccessfully kept to budget.

I plan on staying in the community here at Rennlist and at Pelican and will contribute what I know (which is not a whole lot). I am keeping my eyes peeled for other 944's to purchase later on. Maybe I could get an S...?

Again, I have no clue what I can sell it for so I guess offers are more than welcome. I will not sell the car until I fix the Oil Pick-up tube which has a nice crack in it and caused poor oil pressure when I started it up 2 weeks ago (see other post titled something like "*^$*#@$!!%").

I WILL return to the 944 world as soon as I can. i just hope I can get this one to a good home.

Keeping ot the budget is easy: Justice of the Peace.
Or Fly to Vegas for a couple hundred bucks, get married by Elvis for $20, and fly home.

She's running up the budget on purpose...

Actually, to be honest, I feel I am responsible for the budget problem. I also feel Vegas is tacky to wed at (I was just there this week). I also owe it to our families, to her and myself to have a standard wedding. Eloping had crossed our minds but there is no way I could do it that way.

Being from Massachusetts I felt I needed to be married back home... ok, not to bad. Then it ended up in Boston and I have a HUGE family so the cost for food is high and then there is the open bar. But I digress.

As I've sat in the garage looking at the 944 I would think of all the reasons why I should not sell the car. Then I would think of the reasons why I should. Back and forth with myself well into the night all the way up to around 3AM. It's been a life long dream to own this car and its been nothing but sure ecstasy driving, washing and repairing this piece of history. I've only owned the thing for 8 months!

I get to spend a little more time with it as I repair the oil pick-up tube and drive it a few more times. I have made my decision and am willing to "take a break" from porsche ownership. There is always another one and I really would enjoy an S or an S2. I'll give it a year and by then I should have saved enough money to take that step back into Porsche ownership.

As a bonus, I have a friend whom I've talked the situation over with and he had the idea that maybe he could buy the car from me and then when the time is right and the money is back I can buy it back for what I sold it to him for. He is not sure he can afford that right now but its a great idea. Kinda like collateral.

But now I'm off to get started on another day working on the 944.

The social part of a wedding is the biggest racket out there, and the worst financial decision ever. I mean, usually new couples are not rich - yet they are obligated to feed and provide entertainment for hundreds of people.

Oh well, I wish you luck with your relationship and hope you make a speedy recovery back to the 944 world.
