Weight reduction is usually the simplest way to decrease your weight/power ratio, and therefore your acceleration. I like PS, AC, glass windows, metal body, rear seats and upholstery, though!

Although I drive no Porsche, my car setup for DDD has PS delete, AC delete, battery relocate, windshield washer equipment delete, ABS delete, rear bench delete. Furthremore, I have manual windows, manual mirrors, manual sunroof. and manual seats.

And if I ever need to carry more than one extra person, the rear bench takes 2 minutes to reinstall

Although I would also like to have those special little luxuries, my car didn't come with them, oh well..

No A/C is one of the reasons why I have been driving it a whole lot less lately.

Yeah, but in Marin, when I roll the windows down it feels like the Sun is sitting in the passenger seat pointing a 50000 watt hair dryer at my face.

Drive faster then; increased speed lowers pressure which is proportional to temperature.

High speed = cold air.

works down here in SD.

these should be all you need to calculate your 0-60, quarter miles and trap speeds, give or take a tenth of second.

I have found these to be really accurate!

cheers
Assuming you could get an accurate 0-60 time, and knowing your weight you could use this to calculate HP.

Easier and cheaper than dyno time

pssshhhh please...Try livin' in Phoenix or Tucson...

The thing I hate is when you walk outside on a windy day in the summer and it doesn't feel cool like it should -- it just feels like walking into a blast furnace. I swear it gets hotter when there's a breeze.

Santa Ana winds = death

its like the wind is cold and then hits a radiator and gathers all the heat and smacks you in the face.

as for x=vot+1/2at^2, no. You need to know drag because we're not doing 0-60 in a vacuum. Secondly, you wouldnt need really advanced equipment, only conversions and a little physics know-how to figure out how many feet it took you to go 0-60, provided you have an accurate time. Other than that, I want to meet the person who regularly does 60 in 2nd gear in an '83 n/a.

I'd imagine you could get pretty close at the top of 2nd, but the fuel cutoff would kick in and make you change gears...with a bit o tweaking you could do it. My speedo reads just over 60 at the top of 2nd gear but my car is a pinch lighter than his probably is
