Car not Idling Properly
Im having trouble with my car at idle.
When Its cold it idles at 800-850 and kinda chugs as though it might die but it never does.
As the engine warms up the idle speed increases gradually with engine temp. At normal operating temp it idles at about 1300-1400rpm.
Other than the idling problem it runs great.
Im thinking the ICV may be bad but im not shure how to test it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.
I will test the afm tomarrow. I dont have an extra dme so I will try other things first.
Is there anything else that could be causing this? vacume line maybe?

Give the ICV a good whack when it's idling cold.
If the idle changes, there's a good chance it's getting stuck.
My ICV looked rather worn - it was 21 years old!

Not trying to insult you, but you can use this procedure to disable the device to essentially remove it from the system - as in, testing to see if this is the problem or not...

Have you checked the throttle position sensor? It may be getting old and worn. I took the cover off of mine and cleaned the swept area, it ran fine like that until I could get a new one.

I have this same EXACT problem. But i have an early car. I have been trying to fix it here is what i have checked:
IAT sensor: Good
New vacuum lines
TPS: Good
AFM: Good
New 02 Sensor
Grounds: Good( I think)
ISV: I dont know if it works because it moves exactly as much as the old one.
DME input signal: Good
Im starting to think that it is the DME. But the car only has 90,000 miles, is this normal?
