Sway Bars on early 944 (26/18)
I'm just trying to clarify here.
For an early 944 (1984) with factory sway bars, what would be the upgrade? I know the steel A-Arms are apparently different than the aluminum arm's mounting points.
Would I need to just get an early turbo sway bar? Can I use just any sway turbo bars? I'm trying to do a straight swap and not have to have to change mounting points or anything. What would the easiest/best swap be as far as turbo sway bars go?

I believe the end-links are different... The early 944 and the '87-88 924S just have a bushing that clamps down to the control arm, but it's my understanding that the late 944 and 968 have a more traditional end-link.
I bought a 26.8mm front bar from a 968 to put on my '83 944, and everything fit, but I just had to swap the end-links to the ones that matched my control arms. However, there was apparently a problem with this approach, because I ended up losing one of my rubber end-link bushings, which effectively resulted in me having no front sway bar. I also noticed this problem in a 924S that had a 26.8mm bar installed the same way. I will now be drilling a hole in each control arm to mount the new style endlink (this is also what you do when installing the Weltmeister 28mm front bar on these cars)...

I will probably go for these 26.8/18 bars, but how hard isi the back install? Did you end up having to clamp the bar to the torsion bars as shown in the other thread? I'm not sure where to get those clamps from.
These wouldn't come with bushings, so can I buy those as a set or would I just have to buy them individually? Is poly recommended here?

They have, they are just too cool to answer. lol
Ive got a 924S car (late rear end, early front end) and currently I am running just the 18mm rear with a 20mm solid in front, and yes it does throttle oversteer like a b#tc* but I got the 18 cheap from a lister and it makes the car kinda fun. I kept the 14mm rear in case I ever need the car to handle correctly again!
My steel a-arms have big concave ears welded onto them where you might install the late model drop-links that go on the front. It's just a matter of finding some droplinks and tinkering for a safe fit + the money of the big front sway that keeps me from doing it, however its just a 10min job.

Yes, the sways are universal. You can fit the 968 bar to the early '44 if you want.
On my late car I am running 26.8/18 with delrins and serge's droplinks on the rear and love the balance. I don't feel the car pushes at all... rotates perfectly with throttle modulation.

your car should have the rear mounts, but youll need the bolts and straps- as well as drop links if you never had a rear sway. Fronts bolt on but as stated you'll need your factory end links for the steel arms as well as larger center loops for the 26.8 bar. I ran 26/18 bars on our former 924s for four years with no problems what so ever. I run 30mm/19mm adjustable on my turbo.
