Sitting here reading comments and talking to the wife... she brought up a very good point.... If it were turned around, and I was the one to "accidentally" accept their offer.. would they let me off the hook with "I'm sorry"???? I fricken doubt it.

EXACTLY! thats what I was going to say. If you "accidentally" hit buy it now, they'd be like, thank you sir! you bought it! Id tell them a contract is a contract. If they dont fess up the car you will report them to ebay and the BBB. If you need any help, I'm local....

I was also going to say $8k but for a car with an engine swap it really is important to have records especially for the donor engine. Maybe like $7k then, but no less.

There are so many little things wrong with the car, that they need to stop thinking they are going to get top-dollar for it.
Don't think an engine swap in and of itself warrants the high price. 6500 seems reasonable.

Well, here's the letter I wrote them and their asswipe answer back...
"While I understand you have more invested in the car, I think you know that without records AND it not being an original motor, it's quite a 'pig in a poke'. I'm sure you have much more invested in your TA's than they are actually worth on the open market. While I can't make you adhere to the buying contract, I will leave my offer on the table. I am quite suspicious of the description which does not add up. Missing parts is not a 'babied' car. Why would anyone replace ONE wheel? Obviously it was hit or bent due to hitting something. No badges on the rear.. it was likely repainted, probably explaining the wheel issue also.
Your dealership has a lot of very nice cars so I am sure you know the difference between a 'good' car and one of collector value. Unfortunately this one will never have the collector value it should have.
I, along with many Porsche enthusiasts on the Porsche forums, think $6500 is more than fair. Most say to pass on it as it could be a constant 'wrencher'. "
and their response back....
"Thanks and best of luck on your search. I don't want you to have something that's not to your standards, . Sorry it didn't work out. Do me a favor next time, try not to insult the seller by assuming things without proof, as your perception of a 17 year old car may be extremely high, others may find that this car is in pretty good shape for it's age. I offered you to have the car inspected anywhere you'd like, how much more can I do.... I can't satisfy everybody, but I try and better then most people. Again I wish you the best of luck on finding that extraordinary perfect Porsche at the price you want. Thanks."
Did I "assume" things or is it just COMMON SENSE YA D'HEADS?

Oh, BTW, I did talk to an attorney and, although ebay thinks it's a binding contract, the legal system doesn't... usually. There are cases that have been presented however a larger number of them fail than win. It was hardly worth the money to battle it... AND... even if I won, they can still charge me $2000 in "doc fees". LMAO!

I could since they did close the auction but I don't want to risk them putting a bad mark on my 100% perfect feedback. Not worth the risk to me, just to get the "last word" on them.
