So the new filter needs to have a check valve? Is it terribly harmful to not have one with a valve?

ha... but its not gunna be harmful to the engine itself if I already have one that doesnt have a check valve? but fits a 944?

it'll smoke as the oil burns off. The mahle ones from pelican and other places really aren't that much more than one without a check valve. Maybe a buck or two.

the reason I ask mostly is because I got two identical ones for the car (that fit obviously). One is currently on the car, and I have the other in hand. I took a picture of it and will upload it momentarily

there is a rubber flapper(?) that is behind the six holes (1 rubber thing covering all six)
