Take the 6 (I believe?) screws out of the bezzel, 3 on top and 3 in the vents. Remove the bezel, take the 4 screws off the guage and pull towards you. There are two wiring harnesses, pull the the two clips (one on each side of each harness) away from the harness and remove guages. Very easy to do.

+1 What he said. Most suggest removing the steering wheel. But if your careful you can do it without removing the steering wheel.

+1 to all info above.

One more note, be careful when ur removing the 3 wire strips behind the gauges, they have the potential to rip.

If you remove the steering wheel, get a black majic marker and mark the position of where it was on the hub. Makes it nice to put back on. I would defientely recomend removing the wheel.

If you have the raised Hub steering wheel option on your car then you can get the Gauge cluster out without takeing the steering wheel off. I know my car has the raised hub and my cluster came out no problem but when i helped a friedn with his we had a hard time beacuse he did not have the raised hub.

Its possible without removing the wheel. But I wouldnt reccomend it. Very difficult with wheel in place, on my car anyway...

Not difficult to do even with the wheel in place. In addition to the 6 screws, (3 in the vent area and 3 across the top) there are two small screws by the steering column that hold the bottom of the trim piece in. The three wire harness connections have hinged tabs that lock into place...be careful when prying on those. The right and left hand sides mount horizontally and the center one mounts vertically. Make sure you get them seated correctly upon re-assembly or you'll get all kinds of crazy and false readings. They will click into place when moving the hinged pry tabs back.

Also, FWIW, I've never removed the wheel on the 944 or the 968.

Also, make note of which of the two right side connectors came from where. The cables are marked but the panel is not. They can be reversed. I am not saying how I know, but you can guess.

The 3 clips are not pried off. Each of them has a lever type device on each side of it. They help lock the connector it. Look at them before attempting to remove the connector. Each lever pushes to the outside of the clip and the lever action helps push the connector out. When putting it back together start with the levers out and as you push the connector on the levers will pull inwards until it clicks slightly. Look on clarks-garage.com for good pictures.

you do not need to remove the wheel as long as you are careful! I swaped the cluster in my car with the enhanced one I had North Hollywood spedo build...it was like a 20min afair and could have been less if I had ever done it before!

Just be really carefull with those ribbon cables..the connectors are brittle!
