Anybody have comments on the pitfalls/downside of this?

Sell a good low mileage S2 drivetrain for whatever 3-4k.

Pick up either a wrecked 88/89 944 turbo or drivetrain from a salvage yard for slightly higher say 4-5k.

Install it for say 2k.

Say another 2-3k for some maintenance new clutch, timing belt, exhaust etc.

Net cost 6k

 

do a search....you'd be surprised how many turbo guys have S2 trans'

 

Wait.. what are you looking to do.. turbo engine in NA? I'm lost.

edit... Oh, I think you mean turbo engine/trans in an S2.. it is plenty possible.

 

Yes Turbo engine in an S2 I know their are some real high end shops costing 20-25k.

But in my post wondering about selling the S2 motor. Buying a turbo engine and all acessories and installing. The net cost would be my guess 5-7k.
