Doesn't sound too bad if they are actual factory paper manuals.

BTW, did you get those bolts?

They are factory paper manuals, in the purple-ish binders with the finger holes and all. However, I do see other manual sets on eBay in gray binders...not a difference, is there?

Yes, I got the bolts and the hood pin. Very nice items, and I appreciate the good business. Sorry for not getting back with you. I should be ordering some hatch pins here soon!

Yeah, they come in the burgundy and the grey binders.
I sold a good condition set for 180$ a few weeks back. Shipping on it was about 20$

It depends on the car and the age. I find most manuals prices between $400-$1000. You got a great deal, IF all the pages are there.

The listing said there wasn't any grease or missing pages and they were in great condition, so I can only hope the listing is true to its word.

I don't know what year set this is, but I do know it had the one manual I need; Engine Volume 1A for the S/S2 motors. It doesn't include the turbo manual, however. A similar set with the turbo manual is priced at $350. I feel I did good.

And yes, few other sets on eBay. 928 set priced at $900 bucks. 5 Volume set of 924s and 944 manuals, 83-91 price at $8XX. another place had the exact same set I bought for $575.

How detailed are the manuals?

Just rub it in. lol

I was initially going to get the car fixed at the local Porsche dealership (broken valve spring), but since I bought these manuals, I'll have to see how hard it'll be with these as a guide. The main problem is just compressing the spring. The 16 valve motors have the springs sat in very weird and look like they could be a real bitch to compress. So these manuals may save me a couple hundred if I end up doing this myself!

Would it be copyright infringement if we sent the shop manual pdf's to a book publisher? It would probably require a group buy, but a quick quote I just got online was $15 (very rough estimate) for 500 pages with 100 book minimum. Special binding would probably be more.

Truth be told, what I had planned with these manuals was to buy the set, copy them (VERY time consuming), keep my copied set for myself and sell the originals. I don't see any problem with copying the set as long as they never leave your hands and are ever SOLD to someone else.

Considering I didn't pay the 350 I was expecting to pay, I may just keep the originals and sell them with the car when that time ever comes.

As far mass producing these, I'm almost positive something with copyright would come into play. Someone that has the manuals can probably confirm them having a copyright protection on them.

Yes. It would be a copywrite infringement.
