Hey - I resemble that remark. Sorry that I spend more time driving it than I do polishing it.

So are you bringing that bald head to Fest 07? I really missed doing the Benny Hill slap last year.

Very impressive. I need to do the bearings too. Nice that these cars last so long.

So we've got a bunch in the 220-250K range and a couple in the 350K area. Hope I can keep the rust away from the (critical) body structure of mine for that long. I'm pretty sure I can keep it mechanically sound (hell - I've been doing that for the last 7 years now...)

I have almost 175,000 miles on mine. Did headgasket last year. For preventivie maintence. It looked like it ws going to go so I changed it. W/P and belts needed cahnging to so I did those either than that. all original, will need a head rebuild here in the next 10,000 or so. And the best part. Dash has NO cracks in it, and the car looks like a 75,000 miler

117k miles until I get to 200k! lol! These are great stories of longevity.

Who has the most miles on an original timing belt?

Congrats Scott!

You have about 100K on me, and at this rate I'll finally catch you......................um, that would be "never"

I was thinking of changing out the original rubber-centered clutch disc as preventative maintenance, but I might be 150K shy of that mark after all

While my '44 has 143k on it, my '79 280zx has 265,000 on the original internals and top end. The only thing ever done to the motor was adjusting the valves and the occasional valve cover gasket. It burns no oil and runs good compression numbers within 2-4% across the board.

I know, I know...it's NOT a Porsche, but I had to add my little tidbit too...

I bought my most recent (3rd) 944 with a broken odo at 257,000 for $1900. At some point I guess I'll get that fixed. That was over a year ago, I know I put at least 30-40k on it last year. Still runs really strong. I was planning to just use the body (just has some dings, but needs new paint) but for some reason it keeps going, so I'm actually considering just going ahead with a front seal/timing & balance shaft belt/water pump job. At this rate I'll end up killing it with a broken belt before it gives up the ghost on its own. Pretty amazing.

Scott if you want to ask me out on a date, flattery of this kind will get you no where! BTW - I'm not attracted to the "Swedish Chef Look-a-Likes"

To answer your question - no I'm not going to make it to the Fest this year... I'm currently working/traveling out West and residing on the SW coast of Oregon!

Only about 150 K to go. I gues at 50,000 miles my 1988 is barely broken in.

200,000 miles on 12.26.06. She is now at 208k+ and had a broken speedo when I bought the car.

As an aside, the P-car is not my DD, and still I've put 8,000 miles on her in less than six months. These weekend trips do add up.
