New seals and gaskets
Any idea how long it will take to put in my new seals and gaskets? Also going to put in the new water pump and belt. I'm hoping it can be done in a day (dusk till dawn). I just dont want to get in too deep since I this is my DD and I do have work that following Monday (hoping to do this next Sat.). Anybody have an idea how long this will take? I was also hoping to spend a few minutes hitting each part with a wire brush and some Gunk Engine Brite. My Dad wont tell me how long its going to take. He just keeps saying ''be ready to work.'' I cant just accept that because I'll be the one walking to work. Thanx

Since it doesnt sound like you have done it before, plan on renting or borrowing a car for a couple of weeks and do it right. Alot of people break at least one bolt around the antifreeze outlet on the head, they seize in there from the water seeping into the threads. I have done 3 headgasket jobs and still broke bolts in 2 of them even though I was super careful with that area.
Also it is quite a bit of work and to get everything cleaned up properly for the sealing surfaces etc will take time. Figure at least two to three 8 hour days of work without broken bolts, more if things go wrong.

You would have to live in Iceland on June 21st to do it all right the first time from Dawn to Dusk. Allow more time IMO, something always goes wrong unless your dad is real familiar with these cars and is planning to do most of the work. Trust me, something will break or you will need a special tool...all that soaks up time real quick. Good luck, it's not that hard on an NA since there's much more room.

Yeah he is very familiar with all Porsches. He's been a Porsche mechanic for about 15 years. Plus we'll be taking my car down to the shop so it'll be on the lift and all the special tools we need will be there. I am worried about breaking something though. Then I'd probably have to wait to special order something on Monday.. I hope your right though Naplesguy. 10 hours + 2 hours for cleaning parts! That would be awesome, and I dont feel like riding my bike to work on Monday. I wish I would have ordered some parts from Sharky before this Sat though. O well Thanx for the replies didnt think I'd see this thread again.
