Installed Schnell SSK, won't go into reverse.
I installed my new Schnell short shift kit today and it works great, as long as you're going forward.
1st through 5th all work fine, but it won't move far enough to properly engage reverse. I centered the lever in the car as it said in the instructions, and I made sure the pointy bolts are engaged in their pointy holes like they're supposed to.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Am I missing something? Am I stupid? All of the above?
As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Isn't there a section in the directions about only parking in driveways that are on hills so you can roll out backwards?
Seriously though, I'd like to know what the solution is as I've got a ss to install and may encounter the same issue.

Aha, I love custom machine work . I guess I'll have to crawl under there Saturday and see what's binding up, then do some good old fashioned modificating.
It did come with a set of free harness pads. Maybe you're supposed to put them between your back and the front bumper as you push the car backwards out of your driveway .
Kentucky, was yours a Schnell kit also? If so, they may have some quality control problems.

Interesting. I have started having trouble with mine and reverse as well. But it took some time. I've had it on since Jan. I think. Something must have worked loose. Guess I'll be under mine too checking it out and maybe doing some filing of my own.

Yeah, mine was in the same area, but on the top side of that joint where the white pen(?) is pointing. If you put the car in reverse and then climb under and look at it, you can see what's touching. It doesn't take much. I used a small triangular file to get down in there. Works great now.

It was just below the weld on mine (see white pen in pic). The metal was hitting the top of the pivot point on my trans. As seen here on the old shifter the bottom peace of metal under the weld. I removed about 1/16-1/8 inch from mine.

That's funny, mine was on the top side of that same welded piece. The top of the heim jointed piece that pivots was hitting on the weld when I pushed the lever back for reverse. I filed down the weld, probably not even a 16th of an inch.
