If Wikipedia is to be believed, the 944 weighs in at 1330 Kg, or 2932 lbs. The 928 really isn't THAT much heavier, certainly not 1000 lbs. Wiki claims the 83 928S comes in at 1500kg or ~3300 lbs, with the 87 S4 moving up to 1590 Kg, or ~3500 lbs.

Actually Porsche shows the (ROW) curb weight for the 83-85.5 to be 1260 kg or 2778 lbs.

It's still a far cry from 1000lbs in weight difference, and possibly the figure on Wiki came from a later car. 951 or S2?

This isn't the answer you either you or he wants, but he'd be better off selling and buying a 951.

With the advent of the Maxtronic box, engine managment would be relatively easy - just a matter of tuning.

I would like to do this in the next couple years.

Oh...I looked at the manufacturer's sticker on my project '83 928S and the weight was over 4000. Must have been the fully loaded weight.

Well V2, I'm not sure what you mean by "fully loaded", but curb weight is the car, all fluids, and a full tank of fuel. No passengers or cargo. Maybe the 4000 lbs was full capacity? With all passengers and cargo? That might make more sense. 4 passengers at around 150 lbs, and some cargo could easily add up to 4000 lbs.

I guess that's what they meant too.

I guess he could put the stock wheels back on, the 11" wide drag radials are a bit hard to spin. The 944 R&P would survive maybe one launch with these tires.

The heavier of my two 928's is 3,300lbs fully loaded (full tank, fluids, heaver wheels than stock, bigger brakes, supercharger, 3 gallons of cooling fluid for the IC etc...)

My R&P would probably shatter into 944,000,000,000 pieces with those tires and that much torque..lol

Hacker, could you look in the driver's doorsill and read the manufacturer's sticker there? That's where I got the 4k weight thing. Maybe it's full capacity?

V2 Hacher isn't usually wrong about 928 stuff. The weight you saw maybe the maximum load weight, or whatever the hell that term is called.

I am really interested in a low boost SC. I am going to be shedding a few pounds and I would like to augment that with something in the 180-200hp neighborhood without heat issues (no IC).

Any thoughts on this? I'm really not looking to get massive hp gains. Its just that I've driven these cars for 11 years, and a little something extra would be nice.

I would prefer turbocharging for hp reasons, i know that the supercharger would kill the turbo in low end torque, but the turbo would just kill the supercharger back in the mid to high range......
