Default This price can't be right, can it!?

So I finally tracked down the part number for the windshield trim clips I need for my car. Pelican can supply them, but, unless I'm completely misunderstanding their site, it's $7.47 PER CLIP? Isn't this a bit much for an inch long piece of stamped metal with a some holes in it? I need 16 of these!

Somebody please tell me that's $7.47 for a full set of 16, otherwise I'm just going to cry

Welcome to Porsche ownership. Did you try Sunset Porsche in Oregon? Pelican just gets them from the dealer and marks them up.

Same reasoning applies to $8 bolts that you need 10 of.

I guess I'll come up with my own solution then. $120 + shipping for what amounts to about 50 cents of materials does not a happy Redmund make.

You need to be prepared to look round a bit when pricing parts. A good example was today, when I was ordering some new seals for my wifes 928, and wound up ordering from both Pelican AND Sunset. Same part number, same factory parts, and some totally different pricing between them, with no rhyme nor reason to who was going to be cheaper. Doors seals were about $70 cheaper each from Pelican, whereas the quarter window seals were about $70 cheaper each from Sunset. lol

It pays to shop.

Sounds like normal porsche pricing. I'd imagine things are also going to be much more difficult to get and expensive due to living in Ireland.

Though what the hell are the clips you need 16 of? You should just be needing to replace the seal and the outer frame.

You want crazy pricing? The water tube that carries coolant from the HVAC unit to the water pump and runs down the side of the engine right on top of the exhaust manifolds for an S2...................................................................... ........................................................................ ............................

From Susnset....$595

What the hell?????

So I was looking around on 944online and came across the same tube

....$795

The damn thing better be made of solid gold!!!

Erzengal, I need these clips because the original ones were completely rotted away. There was nothing but a few scraps of rust holding on the original trim.

There's a pic of what the clips look like.

I was prepared for more expensive parts, it being a Porsche and all, but how can they in all seriousness consider charging that much for so little? I just don't understand

Check with dismantlers -- you'll get used pieces, but it might be a lot cheaper. There are also people parting cars on Rennlist -- just send out a WTB thread (you may need to become a member first).

I don't know how easy it is to find a junkyard with a 944 in it where you are, but around here there is usually a 924 or 944 wherever I go. A handful of those clips would probably cost me $10. If no luck with junkyards, dismantlers would be my next stop.

And there's always the plan B - forget the clips and just apply a gratuitous amount of epoxy...
