Was a 21 gallon tank really necessary?

Up till recent years, Seattle, has always had fairly decent fuel prices. I remember less than $1 gas back in '98.
We have a f(&king refinery not 100 miles away!!

Gas here in Vancouver is even more expensive. Last week, it was $1.38 CDN per liter for 94 octane ($1.27 for 87), or about $4.62 US per gallon. Thank god this week its down to $1.34....

Did you guys know that most refineries have shortened there cracking times on gasoline, and not because of effeciency, just because they want to turn a little more out. They also dont run gas through all the filtering systems they used to or monitor quality nearly as closely as was done in the 80's!!!!
Todays fuel is actualy ****tier than yesteryears, AND its more expensive.
Ever wonder why diesel is more expensive then gas? I can tell you it takes less time/effort to crack out diesel than gas so why the price hike? Simple. They dont want you to own a diesel, they lose profits. So now everyone owns a gas car, and is being wrestled into the "E85 Ethanol" crap. -end rant.

Yes, I love my enormous gas tank. When you have a turbo and the price of fuel is high, you really need the extra volume.
You forgot to check how much we pay for fuel in other parts of the world. You're the one who's lucky.

I have seen several stations selling 91 for $4. There is no 93 here in CA except at special rare gas stations. I think it is more common to find 100, and that stuff is like liquid gold.
And to answer the question, the big gas tank along with the great gas mileage, huge trunk and foldable rear seat makes the car an excellent road trip / touring car. I once drove my 968 440 miles on one gas tank, and I'm sure a 944 could go farther. I also once used my 968 to move from norcal to socal. A considerable amount of stuff can be shoved into these cars.
Diesel here is only $3.06 though (if you know where to get it)! I love driving my diesel, and because of the "cheap" fuel, I've been using it exclusively for the last month. If I could get a diesel shoehorned into a 944 I could sell my Merc.

For a week or so my local station had gone up to regular being 3.61 and then the others up from there (I forget what). Luckily it has gone down and regular is only 3.51 currently and 91 is 3.75. There is a chevron right off the highway that is charging 4 something for 91, but I have no idea why. They do the normal price as all the other stations for regular, but put 91 and 89 up like 50 cents more.

It cost me 60 bucks to fill up a few weeks ago when it was still 3.19 a gallon. It's jumped .20 since then. But, I can't be upset with the car. I'm getting 30mpg with hitting boost constantly...
