Want to tint - how much?

I only had to tint the drivers/passengers windows since the PO did the rest for me already. I paid $60 Canadian. - I went with a fairly dark tint, 15% - when its gray/night time you can't see in at all. Make sure you don't get the cheap 'grainy, green/purple' films. A high quality tint is important. I went to a shop that does comercial tinting on buildings etc. Tint here in vancouver is a no no past the shoulder. And ive been ticketed, but never took it off hehe... the cop actually tried to scratch it off, and the comercial tint bonded so well he couldn't even get a mark to flaw my tint, forcing me to get it removed. (which i havn't)
I removed the windows and just went in with them in hand, much easier. Plus you dont' have some joe taking apart your car.
If you' want it done cheaper, remove the rear hatch. bargin with the guy, and tell him you want a big cut in price if you do. plus, you'll end up with a better tint job probably.

Ooooh that's like $12 American, right?!
Yeah you should be wary of going too dark; I'm a valet as a side job, and I've driven my share of cars, some of which had as dark as limo all the way 'round. Let me tell you, it was dark. D-A-R-K, dark.
I've found that 25%-35% is quite pleasant while not being too dark to see anything at night. If you MUST go dark, make the rear darker than the rest, that way everyone's headlights don't seem as bright. I'm always getting unnecessarily angry b/c I think that the guy behind me has got his brights on. Fortunately, I'm tinted ~30% all the way round, tho I can't be completely sure.

Not sure what % this is..just what I thought looked good. I can make it lighter, darker, do diffrent things to diff windows and even make it brown if you want. I was trying brown at 1st but I've never seen a brown tint so I'm not sure of the hue it would be and the browns a was messing with looked like ISH on your burgandy car. I also didnt want to give you a false idea of how it would look, so I just went pure black.

It is not called brown tint but BRONZE. I don't know if that would look good on your car or not. Just stick with a charcoal colored film and you should be ok. 35% or 30% will look nice but it all depends upon what the law allows on the 2 front doors.
I have been tinting for over 18 years now and the Porsche 944 glass is one of the hardest windows to do as well as the old 911 targa back glass. I usually charge $275 just for the back glass because it isn't worth my time doing it since it takes so long. I have a 1988 944 that I tinted the back glass with Suntek HP Charcoal 35% and all the sides as well as the windshield with Suntek Infinity OP 50%. Didn't want to go dark because I track my car and I need visibility.

I'm envious of you guys who are allowed to have aftermarket tint. Here in the Commonwealth (Communist) of Pennsylvania, no inspection stations will pass your car if it has aftermarket window tinting. I had flawless, beautiful tint that the previous owner had put on in a Florida shop. I had it on for three years before local law enforcement got an attitude against tinting. I never got a ticket but no inspection station would pass me for fear of losing their license. Was a depressing day when I finally had to peel it off. Used ammonia in a spray bottle and it came off nicely. Interestingly, now the only people who have dark tint are the cops, who have like 5% .

Thanks for the compliments on the car As for how tinted it is, it's as dark as i could get it. And i've got clear UV tint on the front windows, so its still reflective. Perfectly legal in California. When im backing at night, i wish it was clear but other than that i love it. It blocks out everyones lights behind you..very nice for the trucks with lights at eye level, and it makes the car look more attractive Just dont go Rice status with your 944 after you get it and put on the flashing neon lights below the car..hold yourself back.

I have 20% on my jetta and it's just about right for a car that big, but if I do the 944, it won't be any lower than 35%. I have to roll down windows to see the rear-view mirrors on dark streets at night as it is.
The place I went to was great - did the whole car in about 20 minutes and then I went back to have the fast tinted into the back window. That is actually 3 layers of tint and cut on a really cool laser-cutting machine.
