Oil information
Last night Bob (tinman944) and I put the 924S engine back in after taking it a part this winter and putting it back together with its new cam, head, valves, and other little goodies. The car started fine and is very fast and is going to be a lot of fun at the track. One little interesting thing happened that makes total sense, but got me to thinking and I wanted to share it with you.
Now our 924S/944 NA take 6 qts. of oil. So right after we got it running I shut it down and checked the oil one more time. It was still down a quart! So I added a 7th qt. to the car! I guess I never knew that when we do a normal oil change we are still leaving about a quart of oil throughout the engine. But since this engine was BONE dry of oil it needed another quart. Good thing I change my oil all the time!!!!! Just wanted to throw that out.

I'll have to ask Bob what the name of the cam is, but I know some guy in Calf. is the guy who does them. I would like to dyno the car, but with everything I did I should be putting out around 190 hp.
Hopefully Bob will add some stuff to this thread.

I shaved the head, put turbo springs, reworked the cam, new injectors, gutting the cat. Bob can go into it a lot better as he did the head and the cam for me. I'll PM him and get him talk about it. So far the car is a lot quicker. I can't wait to get home and take it for a drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all, This will be short.I am cleaning out the shop to get the next project started....MINE...
Jays car was a ton of fun to do.Jay and Matt are great guys to have around.
Thanks Guys.
The cam I used on this project was an Elgin cam 330 grind. It was ground to be used with a lightend flywheel.
This is the 3rd one I have used of this grind and have had very good luck.
I also did some head work. a little porting and a 3 angle valve job helps a fair amount. Air in and Air out is where you make HP.
I did take a little weight off the flywheel. not as much as I would like but the 924S has that extra sensor on it so I was not able to take as much as normal off
I was a little easy On this engine as Jay still wants to drive it on te street.
I also cleaned out the CAT. If nothing else it does sound good.
As Jay will also agree when you do this job it is all the little things that make the differance.
This car now has a brand new fuel system, new injectors, cam, head work , a few tricks here and there.
I can not wait to drive this car on the track.

Probably never unless it is free or real cheap. I don't get hung up on HP, but it does interest me juuuuuuuuuuust a little. So maybe I will this summer.
