Default What is this hose coming off the brake reservoir?

The one coming off the reservoir that seems to go back to the firewall......what is it? I can't find it on the exploded diagrams. And what is it for? Its obviously not a pressure line.

In any case, I touched it and made it angry. Now its weeping brake fluid.

Also...what is that thing with the braided hoses in the upper right hand side of the picture. Those hoses also look shot. Might as well order them all at the same time.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I now have a guess - is that something that feeds the clutch cyllinder(s)??

Clutch hose I believe. Mine is starting to go too and will be replaced soon. Not a cheap replacement.

You find a part number or anything? Maybe I should check under clutch rather than brakes in the exploded diagrams.

That's the hose to the clutch master cylinder. I recall mine only costing $20-25, but bleeding the system after is a pain.

Yup, but Pelican doesn't have a p/n for it. It's #36 in the diagram.

Looks like regular hydraulic hose with clamps on it. So maybe just take it off and go to a local parts store to see if they have it in bulk.

Unless someone can dig up the p/n for it.

It's not that bad. Paragon sells it for like $6 a foot. You need one foot. I got two just in case. The biggest pain is getting off the factory clamps, and then getting the hose off the clutch master without braking the plastic elbow.

It's a pain to get your hands in there too...

Goodluck bleeding that thing after the replacement. I strongly suggest using the motive power bleeder. Just do a search on clutch bleeding. Also if you don't know the last time the clutch master/slave has been replaced, this might be a good time to do it. Getting to the master is such a pita its worth just doing it once.

yes thats the hose to the clutch master . i just replaced the one on my 944 spec car last week i used a #6 teflon staniess steel braided hose i had in the shop cost about 9.00 dollers . i have never found bleeding to be very hard to do ? the hardest part of the job was finding my good side cutters to cut the hose clamps . do not use fuel hose it will drake down and start to leek in about a years time . you need to use a teflon tipe hose you can find it at NAPA .

i should add just cut the hose long ways were it slides on the ends with a box cutter tipe knife and put a little spit on the ends of the hose when you install the new one it slides on much easier.

Yep, do as David says to remove it... but be very careful at the ends... both nipples are 20+ year old plastic and will crack very easily. I ended up replacing my fluid reservoir for this reason when I changed my line.
