Default SOLD: 1988 944 Celebration Edition (Satin Black Metallic)

I've just added my 88 944 Celebration Edition to the For Sale forum. Now I'm going to go cry. Check it out. I'd love to sell it to a Rennlister.........

For auction is my 1988 Porsche 944 (VIN#wp0ab0940jn470702). This is a Celebration Edition (option #M757) in Satin Black Metallic paint with CLEAN TITLE in my possession. The car has approximately 110,000 miles on it (odometer shows 105,800 but it went for a couple of months with the odomoeter gear broken before I bought it) and has been my daily driver for the past year. It runs GREAT and has been very reliable. I'm only selling it because I don't have the time to devote to it and I just recently bought a BMW 540i.

All this car needs is a paint job and some TLC and she would be a beauty. Mechanically, you won't find a better 19 year old car. It does, however, need a paint job and I've tried to represent that in these pics. Still, with all the other stuff I've done to it you'll be out VERY little money to get her where you want her.

When I bought this car (May 06) it was very sound mechanically. The prior owner was a mechanic and had done a laundry list of things under the hood. I've attempted to mention them all here. I have receipts for EVERYTHING:

A/C retrofit and recharge - blows very cold air
Timing belt and water pump seals NEW at 03/06
Rebuilt and resurfaced heads - 03/06
New battery
New CD player
New turbo motor mounts
Front seats reupholstered
Upgraded 17 inch 911 staggered wheels (pictured)
K&N Air Filter (I have the original air filter box (pictured) if you don't like the K&N setup)
Clutch is only 2 years old

After purchasing the vehicle almost a year ago, I've had the following added/replaced on the car:
New Toyo Proxes 4 tires (staggered, see sizes in pics) with only about 3,000 miles on them-WOW
New radiator and thermostat, system bled - engine cools perfectly in the humid TN climate
New windshield
New fuel pressure regulator
New black leather shift boot and titanium shift insert (pictured)
New hatch area carpet-black
New digital clock light bulb
White gauge faces and chrome bezel rings
Momo Corse wheel with Porsche horn button
Cupholder!
New fuel/temperature gauge
Replaced rear and front gaskets on the cam housing (biggest expense so far)
Timing belt retensioned
All ground wires cleaned
I have some black vinyl door panels YOU CAN HAVE if you don't like the studio interior

Known defects:
Ding in left front fender (pictured)
Paint peel on passenger door TRIM PIECE (pictured)
Windshield wiper motor is burned out BUT I HAVE A REPLACEMENT YOU CAN HAVE (pictured...hard to find and expensive)!!!
Back seat needs to be reupholstered BUT I HAVE A BLACK VINYL SEAT YOU CAN HAVE!!! This is an easy install.
Dashboard has a crack or two (most do)

Options on this car include:
Climate Control
4-way powered driver's seat
Electric tilting and removable sun roof
Fog lights

She really runs well and has been a lifesaver for me on gas until I got the BMW. I sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic for about 20-30 mins per day and the new radiator and thermo have really worked flawlessly to cool the car in the humid climate here. I wish I had more time to devote to it to get the paint job and the other little things she needs but it's just not happening right now.

I have added a BUNCH of pics below. Any questions or inquiries can be directed to me via Rennlist private message. I'll then share my cell phone or email with you after I get the PM. I will leave this add on Rennlist for 7 days before I put the car on eBay. I wanted my fellow Rennlist members to get first dibs.

Asking - $5,000 obo. The tires, wheels, and new windshield alone are worth $2K. Car is in Nashville, TN.

Man, I LOVE the Celebration Edition 944! The one thing I have to say is: WHERE ARE THE CHECKERED SEATS?? The interior is pretty much the BEST part of that car! But what can I complain, that's one otherwise CLEAN 944.

Good luck with the sale.

I hear ya, man. Unfortunately the owner before me reupholstered the seats before I ever got it. He said they were in rough shape.

Nice car! Its a shame about the seats. I had a chance to buy one of these about 3 years ago from a dealer friend of mine, wish I had done it.

Default cars

I use to have one just like the one for sale here. The interior looks even better in person than in pics. I still have a silver celebration edition. The drivrs seat was tore up really bad, so I replaced them with some aftermarket seats. Here is a ultra pic when I had both cars. It was pretty cool having one of each color. What was even more rare, both were automatics. I converted the silver one to a 5-speed.

You know...I honestly have no idea. Someone more knowledgable on this board will know, I'm sure.

That car is quite possibly the best looking n/a I have seen! The black/grey/white color combo going on looks awesome. I'd so get that for a dd if I could.

Damn, that's a gorgeous machine. I can't believe I'm paying nearly as much for an '87 that's in far worse shape!

If someone was serious about gathering up all of that fabric to put the seats back to factory, shoot me a PM. I too have a 88 celebration and have the grey check worn seats, I pulled them out and plugged in a set of 86 grey leather ones. The match isn't exact, but that grey fabric gets dry and does not wear very well. Oh yea.. mine's probably for sale too. But I won't steal MJD's thunder.
